Students have to help the painter gnomes stack words on their ladders so they can read them as they go up and down. Each word on the left ends with a double or single "s," while the words on the right end with a double or single "l." Students finish each word by filling in the blanks with the correct letters. It's a great way for students to practice spelling tricky words, and it's also a great way to assess how well they have memorized how to spell common words.
