First, students learn that a rhyming couplet is comprised of two lines where the last words rhyme. Then, they have to read each couplet and fill in the blank with a word from the piggy bank that makes the couplet rhyme. They also get to write their own couplet at the bottom of the worksheet. Learning rhyming words helps with pronunciation and spelling, in addition to expanding student vocabulary and encouraging them to write more creatively.
