Maxine is a Metaphor Superhero because she compares two things directly. Students read a couple of examples before being asked to write their own mighty metaphors. Each one starts with a phrase to get students started. All they have to do is fill in the blank. There are also lines where students fill in the subject at the beginning of the sentence instead of the metaphor at the end. Students get to practice abstract thinking, use their creativity, and practice descriptive writing techniques.
