All of the puzzles on the worksheet titled "Pictures, Letters, and Numbers Brain Teaser With Greater and Less Than Practice" feature dotted lines where students have to draw an unbroken line between two items that belong together on the grid. Young students draw a line connecting the same pictures, like two apples or the same capital letters. Older students must connect green and red numbers, either finding one that's less than or greater than the starting number.

In order to complete the puzzle correctly, students must draw their lines over the dotted lines. No lines can cross, and once a picture, number, or letter has been used, it can't be used again. All puzzles feature multiple pictures, letters, or numbers to make solving the puzzle more challenging. Each one also has one kissing pair that's already completed, so they can see exactly how to complete the worksheet.

Brain teasers and puzzles are a great way to encourage students of all ages to engage in critical thinking and problem-solving. Some puzzles also let children practice math and reading skills.

For example, one puzzle could feature a grid with dotted lines. Different numbers can be added to the grid where the lines cross and students have to draw a line from a larger number to a smaller number. With multiple numbers on the grid, students get greater than and less than practice with the added challenge of not being able to cross any lines they draw on the grid!

This same grid could be used to help students match different shapes in a geometry unit. You could also include capital and lower-case letters to help students practice matching them up.
