The worksheet titled "Find the Hidden Equations: Addition, Subtraction, and Multiplication Practice" invites students to practice their math facts, but in a fun way. Each worksheet contains three large boxes, each of which has floating numbers and equations inside them. Students must find two hidden equations in each box by solving the problem and seeing if the answer is also in the box. Then, they must write out the full equation with the answer at the bottom.
Problems at the beginning are simpler and feature single-digit addition and subtraction. As the worksheet progresses, students solve single-digit multiplication problems and add four-digit numbers.
Practicing addition, subtraction, and multiplication facts, as well as solving addition problems with large numbers, can build student confidence when they are able to check their own work. One way to do that is with creative activities that include both the problem and the answer.
For example, addition problems can be jumbled up with their answers in the same box on a worksheet. Students complete the problem, look for the answer they got in the box, and write their equations down below. This allows them to check their work as they go, retrying the math problem to find a different answer if the one they found isn't one of the options.
You can have students work backward by giving them the answer and asking them to write an equation that goes with it. You can also include an answer bank with multiple problems at the top of a worksheet so students can double-check that the answer they found is correct.
