This story recounts the journey of Morris Frank, a young man who lost his eyesight and struggled with dependence on others until he discovered the concept of guide dogs through an article. Inspired, Morris reached out to Dorothy Harrison Eustis, a woman in Switzerland who trained dogs for blind soldiers and traveled there to meet her. Together with a German shepherd, Morris underwent training to master mobility with a guide dog, eventually returning to the United States where he showcased their effectiveness, leading to the establishment of the first American guide dog school, the Seeing Eye. This initiative paved the way for future guide dog partnerships and contributed significantly to the acceptance and rights of blind individuals in society.
