After reading "Animals of the Rain Forest," students will learn about the structure of rainforests and the various animal species inhabiting each layer. They'll discover the four layers: emergent, canopy, understory, and forest floor, and learn how different animals, like bats, lemurs, and jaguars, adapt to these environments. The story will introduce students to specific rainforest inhabitants, such as the keel-billed toucan and its diet, the camouflage of red-eyed tree frogs, the massive wings of Queen Alexandra's birdwing butterfly, the arboreal orangutans, and the semi-aquatic green anaconda. Students will learn to understand the importance of rainforest ecosystems, the diversity of life within them, and the significance of consistent rainfall for sustaining this biodiversity.
