Iguanodon

Iguanodon (ih-GWAHN-uh-don) was the second dinosaur to be found and named. Iguanodon had no front teeth. Its back teeth were wide and flat for grinding the plants that it ate. They looked like a modern-day iguana's teeth. Its name means "iguana tooth." At the front of its jaws was a horny beak, much like that of a tortoise. This was used to cut twigs and leaves. Young Iguanodons walked on their back feet. Larger, heavier ones walked on all four feet. They had long, heavy tails that helped them keep their balance. They had four toes on each front foot, plus a two to six-inch long spike like a thumb. It may have used its spikes .....
