Deinonychus

Deinonychus (die-NON-ih-kuhs) means "terrible claw." This was a fairly small dinosaur, only about 9 feet long. It had sharp teeth, hands shaped for grasping prey, and powerful hind legs. It had a five-inch long, curved claw on one toe of each hind foot. This claw's shape was perfect for ripping and slashing. These traits show that it was a carnivore that hunted and killed other animals. Deinonychus must have stood on one hind foot and slashed .....
