Zach and His Little Red Wagon
Many children have red wagons. They ride in them. They give their friends rides. Sometimes the wagon becomes a place to store toys. Zach Bonner has a red wagon. He used it to help other children.
Zach Bonner started helping others when he was six years old. In 2004, Hurricane Charley hit many Florida neighborhoods. When Zach learned about this, he wanted to help. Zach collected bottled water for the victims. He used his little red wagon to haul the donations. He collected enough water to fill twenty-seven pickup trucks.
After that, Zach knew that he could help even more people. Zach started the Little Red Wagon Foundation with his mom's help. Zach's foundation helps kids who do not have homes. He also helps kids whose families cannot afford their basic needs. Zach collected donations to fill four hundred backpacks with supplies. Snacks, toys, and other items that kids use each day were collected. The backpacks were called "Zachpacks." Backpacks were also given to low income schools. Teachers passed out the backpacks to students in need. School supplies, books, and candy filled each backpack.
