You're Not Wearing Those, Are You?

"You're not wearing those, are you?" Mrs. Black, pointing toward the floor, said to Mr. Black, who had just stepped into the master bathroom where his wife, in her robe, was applying makeup.

Mr. Black looked down to his shoes. "Do you mean these shoes?" he said.

"Yes."

"What's wrong with them?"

"They are old and worn, and they don't go with those sharp pants."

Mr. Black looked again at the shoes and his black slacks. He didn't see why his wife was making a big deal of this.

"Should I change my pants or my shoes?" he asked.

"I don't care. Either wear brown pants with those brown shoes, or get some black shoes to go with the black pants you already have on."
