"What difference does it make?" I yelled with fervor. "It doesn't matter how you say it!" Boy, she frustrates me. My sister is a little smart aleck sometimes. Ever since she won the third grade spelling bee, you'd think she's become the spelling and pronunciation police! She corrects everything I say.
Today we got into an argument over the proper way to pronounce "tomato." I always say, "toe-may-toe." My sister likes "toe-mah-toe." What does it matter, anyway?
The dictionary shows the pronunciation both ways, so I say we should compromise and accept whatever way people like to say it. But, no, she has to have her way. She also insists a tomato is a berry. I know it is a fruit, not a vegetable. But a berry?
"Yes, it is!" she insisted. "Look it up. Botanically, tomatoes are berries."
