With My Compliments!

Compliments Day

Reading Comprehension for February 6

Do you know anyone who does not like to receive compliments? There are probably some folks who are embarrassed by a compliment, but I think that most people, deep down, enjoy receiving them.

What is a compliment? The dictionary tells us that a compliment is "an expression of respect or affection." It is a way to honor someone by telling him or her something uplifting.

What is a good way to give a compliment? You can give a compliment in many ways, from "I like that shirt," to "You do so well on tests!" One of the most meaningful ways is to affirm the person in a specific way. For example, instead of saying, "I like that shirt!" You could say, "That style of shirt looks really good on you," or "You have a great sense of style."
