What is a president? A president is the leader of our country. The people elect our president. He is elected to decide what is best for the country. A president is a problem solver. A president works with Congress and with other countries to solve problems. A president helps make laws to keep our country safe.
America has had many presidents. George Washington was our first president. He was born on February 22, 1732. Washington's Birthday is a federal holiday. It has been a holiday since 1880.
