What in the World?

Good morning, everyone. My name is Gil. I am a golden eagle. I am here for the Raptor Month celebration. I am going to tell you about raptors.

First of all, raptors are birds. We have wings and feathers. We can fly. We can be found in many places. We have beaks and feet. We come in many colors. Some of us are large. Some of us are small. Those are the ways we are like other birds. We are very different in some ways, too.

Some birds eat seeds. Some eat insects. Raptors are different, though. We eat meat. We hunt animals for our food. That is why we are called birds of prey. Our beaks are hooked instead of straight. Our talons (claws) are very powerful. We have better sight than other birds. All these things help us hunt.
