A bully is a person who picks on other people. Bullies can be boys or girls. Bullies try to upset other people. They like to frighten them. They may tease them. Bullies don't let the people they pick on join their games. They may spread stories about them that are untrue. Some bullies want kids to cry or react in some way. Bullies can hurt people with words, actions, and fists.


Sometimes bullies hurt others by NOT doing something. Bullies want others to feel left out and alone. Bullies might leave someone out of a game or activity. Bullies sometimes get their friends to ignore someone. They might turn their backs to someone and pretend he or she isn't there. That is silent bullying.


Sometimes bullies actually hurt others by hitting or kicking them. They may threaten to hurt someone. Pulling hair, bumping, or shoving someone is bullying. Stealing someone's money, food, books, or things can be bullying. Hiding or ruining someone's things is bullying.
