What Is It?
It is a long tube. It is closed on both ends. Something is inside the tube. The something inside may be colored red or silver. Or it might look green or blue. The colored liquid in the tube moves. It moves up in the tube when it gets warmer. It moves down in the tube when it gets colder.
The tube is mounted on a backboard. The backboard has little marks on it. There are numbers alongside the marks. The numbers are smaller near the bottom. The numbers get bigger as they go up. You will also see a letter or two. The letters are "F" and "C."
