St. Patrick's Day is celebrated every year on March 17. It is a holiday that began in Ireland. In fact, it is a national holiday there. People in many other countries celebrate the day, but it is not an official holiday in other countries. The day celebrates the Irish culture. It began as a religious holiday. One tradition that many observe is wearing green. Some even believe that those who do not wear green on St. Patrick's Day will be pinched.
