Reading Comprehension for August 4
Danny walked into the kitchen wiping the sleep from his eyes.
"Good morning, sleepy head," said Mom as she put her cup of coffee down and rose to greet the little boy.
"Morning," Danny replied grumpily.
"I guess you're not awake yet," said Dad, peering over the Sunday newspaper.
"I guess not," Danny grumbled as he sat down at the table for breakfast.
Mom brought him a bowl, a box of cereal, and some milk. "Here's some breakfast. Maybe this will help."
"Yeah," said Danny as he poured some cereal in his bowl and topped it with some milk.
The family sat silently as he ate his breakfast. When he finished, he got up, put his bowl in the sink, and left the room.
Dad and Mom looked at each other and shrugged their shoulders.
"I'm really looking forward to a quiet day at home today -- reading the paper, maybe watching a movie. We should have a barbeque tonight on the patio," said Dad.
