The Nile River is usually named as the longest river in the world. This river and its tributaries drain about ten percent of the land of Africa. The Nile flows 4,132 miles from south to north. There are two main rivers that join together to make the Nile. The White Nile, which begins as the Kagera River in the African country of Burundi, and the Blue Nile.
