The Vienna Vegetable Orchestra
Many people like orchestra music. Some people have favorite instruments. Some like the violin. Some like the flute. Some like the trumpet. In Austria, there is a vegetable orchestra. The instruments are made of vegetables! In 1998, a group of eleven musicians got together to form this veggie band. They give concerts in Europe and Asia.
Violins in this orchestra are made of leeks. Flutes are made of carrots. Pumpkins make drums. Maybe the strangest instrument is the cucumber-phone. A cucumber is carved out to play music. The mouthpiece is a carrot. A bell pepper forms the bell on the end.
