The Rainforest

When someone mentions the rainforest, your first thought might be a lot of trees in South America and the Amazon. It is true that forty-eight percent of all tropical rainforests are in Latin America, but did you know that rainforests are found across the globe?

Some tropical rainforests can be found in Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands as well as West Africa and Australia.

Temperate rainforests can be found close to home right here in North America. They are along the Pacific coast and stretch from Oregon to Alaska. This makes up as much as 1200 miles of coastline.

There are smaller temperate rainforests also. They can be found along the southeast coast of Chile in South America. But other temperate rainforests can be found in the United Kingdom, Norway, Japan, New Zealand, and southern Australia.
