"Remind me again how long the race is," Todd said, leaning over and out of breath.
Dad laughed, putting his arm on Todd's back. "Twenty-six miles, three hundred eighty-five yards. Do you think you're ready?"
"I hope so. We've been practicing all year. I'm excited about running in it," Todd said as they walked into the house.
"Well, the runners have returned," Mom said. "How did it go today?"
"It went well. Todd says he's ready," said Dad.
"Hi, Todd. Hi, Dad," said Brandon. "You guys look tired."
"We just finished our practice marathon, Brandon," said Dad.
"Oh, yeah, I remember. The race is pretty soon, huh?"
