The Lost Wig

Reginald looked at himself in the bedroom mirror. The majestic mane from his youth was gone. Without it, he looked like a lioness! He stroked the lovely wig that sat on his dresser. It was just the right color and size. When he slipped it on his head, it looked as if he had grown it himself. Reginald smiled at his reflection. For an old lion, he was looking good!

It was Wednesday, and Wednesday meant business in town. Reginald needed to go to the bank and to the dry cleaners. Afterwards, he would dine at The Barefoot Sailor's Place. He needed a little more fish in his diet. He gathered up his things and headed into town on foot.

"I didn't expect it to be quite this windy," Reginald said to himself as a stiff breeze ruffled his mane and played with his whiskers. Leaves went skittering across the street. He glanced up at the sky. A few wispy clouds were hurrying by, but no storms seemed to be coming along. Reginald hadn't packed an umbrella, and he certainly wouldn't have enjoyed walking in the rain.
