Brady rolled over in his bed. Would it ever be time to get up? This was almost as bad as Christmas morning. He knew his mom would not be happy if he woke her up too early. He was just too excited to sleep. It was almost 7:00 A.M. That was pretty early to be getting up during summer vacation. On any other day, he would be fast asleep, and his mother wouldn't be able to pry him out of bed.
Finally, it was time to get up. He could hear Mom going downstairs. He was up and dressed in just a few minutes.
Mom was shocked to see him come into the kitchen where she was making breakfast. "What are you doing up so early?" she asked.
"I have been awake for a long time. I just could not sleep this morning," said Brady. "You remember today is the day you said I can get my new library card."
"Yes, I remember, but I didn't think it mattered that much to you," said Mom.
