Strange (Founding Fathers) Bedfellows
Have you ever heard the phrase "strange bedfellows"? This idiom usually means that two people who may have something in common are quite different in other ways. Two of our Founding Fathers were once literally strange bedfellows. They had a lively argument, but it was not about politics!
John Adams and Benjamin Franklin were opposites in many ways even though both men played important roles in the formation of our country. Ben Franklin had a good sense of humor. People liked him. John Adams, on the other hand, was known for his difficult personality, and he was not popular. During an argument, he got so angry that he jumped up on a table and flung his wig at people!
