You probably know someone just like her. She is someone who just can't seem to stay out of trouble. She is someone who always seems to be doing the wrong thing, even when she is trying to do the right thing! She is someone who always makes you laugh...even when you shouldn't be laughing! Her name is Clementine.
Clementine isn't a real person. She is a made up character. She was created by a book writer named Sara Pennypacker. Clementine may not be real, but she means the world to her creator. A writer often lives with their characters inside his or her head. They walk, talk, and play just like real people! Sara Pennypacker has spent a lot of time with Clementine. She knows who she is. She understands why Clementine does the things that she does. She loves her just as she would a real person.
As a young girl, Sara Pennypacker didn't have much in common with Clementine. She was shy. She was serious. She also worried a lot. She loved books and art, and she was crazy about baseball! Her dream was to play shortstop for the Boston Red Sox.
