Salamanders Are Amphibians
Salamanders are animals known as amphibians. Some salamanders may look like lizards. But they are different. Reptiles like lizards have dry skin. Their skin is covered with scales. But amphibians have smooth, moist skin like frogs. They do not have scales.
Some salamanders have four legs. Some have only two front legs. Some have no legs at all. They can regrow new tails, legs, and feet. They have long tails and long bodies.
Salamanders are carnivores. This means they eat other animals. Most salamanders eat tadpoles, insects, slugs, and earthworms. Some of the larger ones eat fish, crayfish, and even small mice.
