Restaurant Seating
One of the first things you do when you go to a restaurant is sit down at a table. In some places, you will pick where you want to sit. In other places, an employee will take you to your seat.
In most fast food restaurants, you will be allowed to choose your own seat. You may choose a seat when you first go in. One person can remain at the table while the food is ordered. People may also leave items at a table to save it, but this isn't always a good idea. The items could be stolen if someone isn't with them. You can also pick a table after you order and get your food. Go to the counter and order your food when you enter the restaurant. After getting your food, you will take it with you when you pick out a table. Either method is okay. There may be times when the restaurant is busy. If this happens, you can have one person watch for a table while the others order food. Also, if your party is large, you may have to sit at separate tables. Most fast food restaurants do not have tables that can be pushed together for larger groups.
Other restaurants have groups wait before they are seated. People are usually seated in the order that they came to the restaurant. If a group has reservations, people in their group will be seated before people that don't have reservations. If possible, make reservations before you go to a restaurant. Some restaurants take reservations and other do not. Don't be afraid to ask. You can call ahead. A reservation can keep you from waiting a long time for a table.
