Pop! Pop! Pop!

Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day

Reading Comprehension for January 28

Do you like to make lots of noise? Do you like to pop bubbles? Do you like to sneak up and scare people? If you do, you must like bubble wrap!

Bubble wrap was invented in 1960. Marc Chavannes and Al Fielding invented bubble wrap in their garage. They were trying to make plastic wallpaper. The wallpaper didn't work very well. It was good for wrapping things that break easily, though!

Bubble wrap is made by melting plastic beads. The melted plastic is rolled into two long sheets. Air is trapped between the two sheets. The air is sealed in bubbles. How is the air kept in the bubbles? The company won't tell. It is a trade secret!
