Playground Gossip Hurts

Rebecca loved to go out to the playground during recess. She loved whizzing down the slides. She loved swinging high into the blue sky on the swings. She loved pulling herself up on the multi-colored climber, too. Recess was the best part of school!

On a bright, crisp fall day, Rebecca ran out to the climber. She wanted to hide there and wait for her friends. Soon, Susan and Jan came outside.

"Where is Rebecca?" asked Susan.

"I don't think she is here yet," said Jan.

Rebecca covered her mouth so she wouldn't giggle aloud. Her friends hadn't seen her! She would wait a moment, and then she would pop out and surprise them.
