Pencil Drawing

"I saw your painting in Mr. Hooper's store," Melody said to me as we got ready for our first class.

"You did? What did you think?"

"I think it is terrific," Melody said. "You are very talented."

"You are, too," I said, really meaning it. Melody's pencil drawings were very detailed.

"You really think so?"

"I sure do. What are you working on now?" Melody always seemed to have a project going.

"I'm drawing a picture of Comet, my cousin's horse," Melody said.

"Maybe Mr. Hooper would try to sell one of your drawings," I suggested.

Melody's eyes lit up. "Do you really think he would do that?"

"We could ask. Let's go after school."

I met Melody after school, and we headed to Hooper's General Store where my mom worked part time. Mom was in the back when I got there, but Mrs. Hooper was in front.
