Last night I was thinking about our family vacations. We have another one coming up, so I was reminiscing. One of the best family vacations we ever had was a backpacking trip. The five of us decided that we wanted to hike up a mountain and stay overnight at the top. My father was excited about the idea. My mother was less excited, but she was willing to try. I didn't realize how much was involved in planning for a trip like that, though. I thought we would just grab a few things and go. Boy, was I wrong!
Dad took charge of the trip.
"Okay, troops, let's list what we will need." He sounded like a drill sergeant!
We threw out ideas:
sleeping bags
tent
clothes
food
cook stove
water
