In 1962, Nancy graduated from Trinity College. She then began her political career. She was an intern for a Democratic senator from Maryland. Not long after that, she married Paul Pelosi. They moved to New York. Then they moved to San Francisco, California. Nancy Pelosi was active in the Democratic Party. She was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1987. In 2001, she was elected as the House Minority Whip. Her job was to make sure that all members were there when laws were voted upon. She also kept a record of every law. She was the first U.S. woman to have had this position.
