Millipedes

Millipedes have long, narrow bodies like worms do. They are not worms. They are invertebrates (animals that don't have backbones). Some kinds of millipedes grow to be a little less than one inch long. Some kinds grow to be almost twelve inches long. Millipedes eat rotting plant material like dead leaves or rotting logs. They are harmless to people. Millipedes are not insects. Insects have three body segments. Millipedes have more body segments - a lot more! They may have from twenty to one hundred segments.
