Stegosaurus (steg-uh-SORE-uss) was a dinosaur. It lived about 150 million years ago. It had large, pointed plates on its back. The plates were bony and hard. They stuck up along its spine. The plates were two feet long.
This dinosaur walked on four thick legs. It had a small head. It had a short, thick neck. Its brain was small. It was only about as big as a walnut! It had a thick tail. The tail had four big spikes on the end. Each spike was three feet long. From nose to tail, this dinosaur was thirty feet long.
