Many people believe that bad behavior will get you nowhere. Acting rebellious and misbehaving, some say, can lead to a difficult life. There is some truth there, but rules never interested a kid named Marlon Brando. In fact, his bad behavior was an important part of his career as an actor. And he wasn't just any actor - many say that he was the best actor of the 20th century.
Marlon Brando was born in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1935. He had a rough childhood filled with many problems. When he was 11, his parents were divorced, and his mother took him and his sisters to California to live. After two years of separation, his parents made up. They moved from California to reunite the family in Illinois. The stress of being a child in the Brando family didn't end there, though. Marlon's mother was an alcoholic, and his father was pretty hard on young Marlon. Marlon stayed in trouble for most of his childhood. He was expelled from several schools.
Marlon found joy in imitating people. His mother, an actress, encouraged him to be an actor. His father also encouraged him to chase his dreams. Marlon moved to New York City to study acting. He attended many of New York's best acting schools. He also worked with one of the country's best acting coaches. During schooling, Marlon was in several plays.
