Marcia Thornton Jones and Debbie Dadey

Marcia Thornton Jones and Debbie Dadey both began their careers as teachers. Now they are full-time writers. Ms. Jones and Ms. Dadey have written more than 100 books. They have both written books on their own. However, most of their books have been written together. The Adventures of the Bailey School Kids is their most well-known series. Together Ms. Jones and Ms. Dadey make an amazing writing team.


Marcia Thornton Jones was born in 1958 in Joliet, Illinois. Her family moved to Lexington, Kentucky, when she was young. She still lives in Lexington with her husband, Stephen. Ms. Jones has worked many jobs. She worked at a book store and a clothing store when she was in high school and college. Then she finished college and worked in education. She worked as an elementary school teacher. She taught first grade and then third grade. Later she taught computer lab. She also taught gifted and talented students. Ms. Jones worked in all of these education jobs for twenty-five years. That's a lot of teaching experience!


Debbie Dadey was born Debra Gibson in 1959 in Morganfield, Kentucky. She was always a daydreamer. She was also a talker. In fact, young Debbie often got in trouble for talking too much in class. When she was older, she married Eric Dadey. When Mrs. Dadey finished college, she worked in education. She first worked as an elementary school teacher for several years. She later became an elementary school librarian. Just like Ms. Jones, Ms. Dadey spent many years working in education.
