Lunar Swap

Lori walked into the large observation room. As she expected, her friend Tim was already there watching a group of workers on the other side of the glass. Lori liked watching the work that went on outside of the Permanent Human Colony structure. It was fun to watch the fish as they interacted with the men in their scuba gear.

This was the third year that she and her family had lived and worked here at the PHC. Tim and his family lived and worked here, too. In fact, Tim's father was the director of the colony. Lori knew that if there was anything new happening around the facility, Tim would know about it.

"Hi, Tim," said Lori. "What's going on?"

"Not much. The crew has just about finished the new docking bay. They have been working on it all summer," said Tim. "Since we have been on summer break, I have been able to give them a hand during part of the installation."

"Oh, what did you do to help?" Lori asked with skepticism in her voice.

"I have been keeping the inventory on all of the supplies and parts that have been shipped to us. In fact, I wrote a program to help us keep track of supplies. It has helped to increase our efficiency and speed up the construction," said Tim as he entered some data on his handheld computer.

"Wow, that's pretty cool. So, are you about ready for school to start again for this year?" said Lori as she moved over to the window to get a better view of the scuba divers.

"Yes, I guess so. I enjoy the summer breaks so much that I hate to have to go back to the routine of the school year." Tim put his computer on the table and turned to look at Lori. "Although this year is going to be a lot of fun, I think."
