What scares you? Everyone fears something. The dark, a storm, spiders, or dogs can be scary. Some people fear being alone. Others fear crowds. Getting lost is scary. Monsters are scary too. At least they are not real!
Has a day ever scared you? Some people are afraid of Friday the 13th. Something bad happened once on that day, and the day got blamed. Some people still think it is a bad luck day. But some people born on that day think it is their lucky day! If bad luck scares a person, he or she may fear Friday the 13th!
What do those people do to ward off bad luck? They try to find good luck. Good luck keeps bad luck away. They may get a lucky charm. They hope that good luck charms will fend off bad luck.
