Our sun is a star. Like all stars, it is a mass of very hot gases. The sun has no solid surface. There are several different layers of the sun. Each layer blends into the next, like the layers of Earth's atmosphere. The core is the center of the sun. It is extremely hot and dense. Most of the sun's mass is in its core, and almost all of the sun's energy is created there. The radiation zone is the second layer outward. The next layer is the convection zone. The next layer is called the photosphere. .....
