When you see things from far away, it's hard to visualize how big they really are. Have you ever stood close to the Statue of Liberty? If you have, you know how tall it is. If you have not, maybe this will help.
There are three parts to the statue. The first is the base. It is the shape of a star with eleven points. It used to be the walls of old Fort Wood. On top of the base is the pedestal. It is 154 feet from the ground to the top of the pedestal.
How tall is that? It would be a little taller than a ten story apartment building. If you live in a single story house, it would be taller than seven of your houses stacked one on top of one another.
