Kitchen Fight
"What is all the noise about?" asked General Stove. "I've never heard such a racket. One of you tell me what is going on."
"It's like this, General," said the large mixing spoon. "Ever since they installed this new dishwasher, it's been nothing but trouble."
"What kind of trouble, Mr. Spoon?" asked the general as he looked over the dishes and utensils in the wash rack of the dishwasher.
"Well, this new dishwasher makes the water too hot. It gets very uncomfortable when we are taking our bath. We just want to take a nice comfortable bath and then gently be put back in our drawer."
"Look, General," said the dishwasher, "It is always something with these guys. I am just trying to do my job. First, they complained there was too much soap. Then they thought the wash cycle was too long. Now they say the water is too hot. I don't know what the old dishwasher got away with, but I will not settle for less than my best."
"That is very good, Mr. Dishwasher. I am happy you're trying to do your best. The dishes and utensils have a point, too, though. Is it possible you are making the water too hot?"
"It must be hot to get things clean," said the dishwasher.
"I like things cool myself," said the refrigerator. "I once got warm inside, and it was not good."
"Yes, Miss Refrigerator," said General Stove. "I remember all too well when you got warm inside. It was a big mess for the whole kitchen. However, I don't think that has anything to do with our problem now."
