Rose Cecil O'Neill was born on June 24, 1874. She was born in Pennsylvania. She was the second child in her family. Rose enjoyed writing. She liked acting. She liked drawing. Her parents encouraged her. The family moved to Nebraska.
Rose won an art contest. She was 14 years old. She knew that her career had started. She was going to be an illustrator. By the time she was 17 years old, she was working for a magazine. She was doing illustrations. By the time Rose was 19 years old, she had written her first novel.
