It was 11 p.m. the night before Allison's big history paper was due. She was going to be up all night writing it. The paper had been assigned three months ago. Allison had just started it yesterday. "Oh, why didn't I start on this sooner?" she thought to herself. She was tired and she knew she wasn't doing a very good job on the paper.
Allison walked into history class the next day. She had dark circles under her eyes. She had slept through her alarm that morning and got up late. Her hair was a wreck, and she hadn't had time to put on any makeup.
"What happened to you?" Allison's best friend Katie asked.
"I was up most of the night writing my paper," Allison confessed.
"I knew that would happen," Katie scolded. "I've been reminding you for weeks. You are such a procrastinator."
"Save the lecture," Allison snapped. "I've already heard it all from my mom. I know I need to get started on these things sooner. I just don't know how to go about it."
"I'm sorry I scolded you," Katie said. "Let me help you. I'll come over after school and show you my method."
"That sounds great," Allison told her. "I'll make brownies to celebrate that we both actually got the paper done."
