Katie had very pretty hair. It was very long and brown. It was curly. She was very proud of her hair.
Today a new Katie came to school. Her hair was very pretty. It was curly. It was brown, but it was not long. It was short.
Katie had a little pink bear with her.
"His name is Curly," she said. "He is the Locks of Love bear."
"What is Locks of Love?" Mary asked. "Where is your hair?"
"I got a haircut," Katie smiled. "The man at the shop braided my hair and then he cut it off."
"Why did he do that?" Anne asked.
"He will send the braid to Locks of Love. The people there will use it to make a wig."
