Jean Registers to Vote

Jean was very happy about passing his citizenship test. He took the oath of allegiance and was now a naturalized U.S. citizen. One of the first things Jean wanted to do was to register to vote. But he wasn't sure how to go about it. So he looked for information on the Internet.

Jean found a website that told about registering to vote. First, the requirements were listed. A person has to be a U.S. citizen and at least 18 years old in order to register to vote. He also has to be a resident of the state in which he is registering. Anyone who has been convicted of a felony cannot register to vote. Jean fit all the requirements.

Next, he learned where to get the form he needed to fill out. The article said that he could get a form at his local election office. They were also available at colleges and other schools in his town. There was a toll-free number to call to ask for a voter registration form. He could also download a form from the website for his state. "Wow, they surely do make it easy," Jean thought.
