"I've never flown on a plane before," Jake told Jackie as their mothers discussed an upcoming trip.
"Me, either," Jackie said. "I wonder what it's like?"
Jake and Jackie's fathers were going on a business trip to San Diego, California. They had decided to take their families along. Their mothers had been excitedly planning for weeks, and everyone would be leaving on Friday. Today was Monday, and they were starting to get ready for the trip.
Their moms called Jake and Jackie into the kitchen to explain some things. "It's time for you two to begin packing for our trip," Jake's mom began.
"Yes, and there are several things you need to know," Jackie's mom continued. "Since we are only going to be gone for three nights, we are going to try to pack all our things in our carry-on luggage."
"What's that?" Jackie asked.
"Carry-on luggage is bags or suitcases that are small enough to be carried onto the plane with you. Checked luggage is for items too big for that. Checked luggage goes into the belly of the plane."
"Why don't we just put our entire collection of luggage there?" Jake asked.
