Jake and Jackie Have an Argument

"I'm never speaking to him again!" Jackie shouted, slamming the screen door behind her as she stomped into the house.

"What is all the ruckus about?" Jackie's mom looked up from her computer in the home office adjacent to the foyer.

Jackie strutted into the office and plopped on Mom's leather wing chair, tossing her beach towel onto the floor.

"That Jake. He makes me so mad!"

Mom turned to face Jackie, laying her reading glasses on the desk.

"Tell me what happened."

Jackie started spilling out her frustration with Jake. "Sometimes he's just no fun. He has a hard time making a decision. I'll ask him what he wants to do, and he usually says, 'I don't care.' By the time we do anything, we've wasted a whole afternoon!"

Jackie's mom smiled and said, "Go on."

"Like today. I wanted to take our bikes down to the town pool for a swim with the rest of our friends. He was playing a video game and said, 'When I get done, we'll go.' So I waited. And I waited. Finally I gave up. The pool would close in an hour and it wasn't worth going by then. I told him, 'thanks a lot!' and went out the door. He looked at me as if he had no clue why I was upset!"
