Dana's stomach hurt. His head hurt. He couldn't go to school. He would just have to stay home today. He didn't want to miss the trip to the aquarium. He just couldn't go to school.
"Dana! It's time to get up," his father called from downstairs. "It's time to get ready for school. Breakfast will be ready soon."
Dana got out of bed. He went to the top of the stairs. "Dad, my stomach hurts. My head hurts. I don't want to go to school," he said.
Dana's father came upstairs. He put his hand on Dana's forehead. "Hmm. You don't feel warm," he said. "What seems to be wrong?"
"I don't know, Dad. My stomach hurts. My head hurts."
"I thought you were excited about going to the aquarium," his father said. "Don't you want to go there with your class?"
"I would rather go to the aquarium with you and Mom," Dana said. He looked down at the floor.
"Dana, what is wrong?" his father asked. "Is there a reason you don't want to go with your class?"
Dana shook his head. He didn't say anything.
Dana's father looked worried. It seemed like something was bothering Dana. His dad did not know what it was, though. He helped Dana get back in bed. He was very puzzled. He sat down beside Dana's bed.
"I'll go by your school this morning. I will tell Miss Adams that you are sick," he said.
